- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2021I really enjoy this product. The versatility and grain range works great. I put in 4tsp of whole bean, coarse grind and then use them with my French press. Makes a perfect cup of coffee and allows me to control every aspect of the bean.
If you are looking to make more than a very strong single cup of coffee than this product will require more than one grinding circle as you can’t put more that the above mentioned amount of beans.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2021I bought this *knowing* that the reservoir has the tendency to slip while you're using it, and how it takes about a few minutes to grind your beans, but I couldn't *believe* how uncomfortable and utterly dissatisfactory it all was.
Not only were the instructions and the design of the click wheel were confusing enough as it is, right off the bat, but also to keep hold of the reservoir, you have to use a death grip to keep it on there, and I'd personally rather be able to *wank* until my death, and not develop arthritis so early on. It is literally the *WORST* when it comes to ergonomics, and I wouldn't see myself using this every single day. If they made it so the reservoir for the grinds actually *screws* into some kind of socket, the rating would have *just as easily* went substantially higher. Keep in mind that it takes at least a *few minutes* to grind a proper amount of coffee beans, so imagine what that's like having to trade hands every freakin' time you notice your grip hand starts to hurt. I can't imagine an elderly person using this hand assassin.
So to make it more clear: THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL WAS LITERALLY THE MOST VAGUE WANKSTAIN I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. How the hell do you expect someone who is trying out manual burr grinders for the first time to know how to get the proper grind setting for the method they are using? Plus there is a great opportunity to make the click wheel go *beyond* what you should expect; finding the coarsest grind beyond 16 clicks (from literally the FINEST grind setting, might I add, which the instruction manual SHOULD have clarified) is just gonna eject your coffee beans. "Needing experimentation", according to reviewers, is literally the equivalent to a "colossal waste of time and resources".
The amount of grip I needed was enough to (for comparison's sake) tying in a bagpipe stock in a hide bag--and that requires a LOT of grip strength in order to tightly tie in a string. It shouldn't cost much in R&D *and* manufacturing to add a bloody screw base for your coffee grind reservoir so you wouldn't have to add so much bloody effort into grinding it.
I might also add that adding coffee beans can prove to be a bit difficult since its narrow profile makes it difficult; its slender profile makes it a *lot* easier to spill coffee beans while you're adding them. This greatly contributes to the fact that it's exceptionally difficult to hand wash this device. Bummer!
And while the manual recommends to clean the device with brushes, the manufacturer doesn't have the common *decency* to include one, which literally adds insult to injury to this wonderful hand-held torture device for the opposite hand that *isn't* turning the crank. I fear that at this point my dominant hand *may* or may *not* turn something else. Might I also add: it can be exceptionally difficult to "clean the ceramic blades with a brush" if anyone worth their salt (who KNOWS the nature of coffee beans) already knows that coffee beans have an *oily* residue after it was roasted by the roaster--something that NO FREAKIN' BRUSH can resolve, by themselves. Ironic, considering this company "manufactures" and *sells* burr grinders for a living.
And not only that, the bloody crank *literally* has *zero* security, whatsoever! It makes it *so* much easier to *have the damn thing slip off*! Whoever designed this is *clearly* a sadist.
On the plus side, once you figure out where is the most extremely fine grind option (just find the click amount lol), and how you're SUPPOSED to make the click wheel go "click", it makes a fairly consistent grind, which is a wonderful plus, considering how insufferably *bad* this device is when it comes to its design. And at least the build, itself, is sturdy enough to withstand the utter death grip I had to perform on this poor thing in order to make enough coffee for at least *four* people (enough to make "8 cups" of coffee, which my coffee maker supplies at least 12oz per "cup").
But, of course, I guess I can't expect very simple things for a device that cost me *pittance* out of pocket. It's very shameful, too. And thanks to intellectual laziness coming from their company, I'm more than likely going to return this device, because I literally can't risk a day where I may not be able to wank again.
I'm done *roasting* this bloody apparatus. I fear if I went any further, I might just scald the coffee beans in my cupboard. (Actually, never mind. I probably burned my AND everyone else's beans, considering how much time I spent adding more issues to this device. WOW. Guess I can't have coffee then. With the amount of time I spent roasting this device and--indirectly--others EXACTLY like it, California's forests would have already burned down to the ground, by now, therefore making "forest management" a thing of the PAST! I'm not sorry.)
P.S. There are a number of manual burr grinders on Amazon following this *same exact design* that costs *drastically more* than this one. If you paid for *more* than what is typically shown here (~$15 - $18), you've seriously been ripped off.
P.S.S. This is literally a review written by someone who bought this as their *first* burr grinder.
P.S.S.S. These bevy of issues were detected within the first half hour of using this. It's ridiculous how many thought this was a good idea to implement this ultimately garbo design.
EDIT 2 AUGUST 2021 LOCAL TIME: In regards to my issues with the click wheel, it turns out that for practically *every* burr grinder out there in the market, this is an intentional design to allow the end user to completely disassemble (depending on the product's design) the burr grinder for maintenance purposes. Ignore the issue with the fact that going "so coarse you might as well have the bean" because that was a bit uncalled for. The other issues mentioned above beyond that one still stands.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2021Works well enough for camping and for travelers , Has ceramic inserts which are way better than Nylon, etc.
TIP: Do not hold grinder still in one hand and use the other to grind as people complain about the grinding time. Grind with both arms. Speeds up process tremendously . Would definitely recommend!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2020I really likes that compact design is the perfect portion size but with a large enough grinding crank that I'm not banging my knuckles on every turn. Make sure your beans are dry and make sure that you not using beans covered in different substances, works like a dream.
