- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2023My thoughts on Green Coffee Trader's Jamaican Blue beans, which I've had before - and the fact that Amazon sent me Kona beans instead. This was not the seller's fault, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the Jamaican Blue that I sent to the seller:
I swear I never intended to become a coffee snob; I only wanted to attain the level of "Coffee Arrogance", with a mastery in coffee brewing and a secondary mastery in Mercantile Trading. I specialize in the exchange of coffee beans (for my personal use and enjoyment) in exchange for mutually acceptable currency.
My first experience with the Jamaican Blue coffee beans instilled within me a palette for coffee with a permanent buff triggered by the elixir of the Jamaican Blue coffee bean. Consumption of the elixir of the Jamaican Blue bean provides me with +5 RELAXATION and +5 CONSTITUTION buffs. Offering the Elixir of the Jamaican Blue beans to others also provides a + 5 CHARISMA boost.
Wizards, Witches, and Muggles alike aspire to attain the Jamaican coffee bean, the highest quality of which are obtained from a small region of the Blue Mountains on the eastern side of the island and grow at an elevation of 2,000 to 5,500 feet above sea level. Travelers and traders beware! The only merchant to be trusted to deliver the finest, authentic coffee beans is Green Coffee Traders. Their trade routes are swift and secure. One only need to be wary of the final handoff, from the shipper who must offer it to the Monolithic Monster of the Amazon who cares nothing of my satisfaction with the end product. The Monolithic Monster of the Amazon thrives on quantity, not quality. When this conglomeration of a corporate monster rears its ugly head and does not deliver as it should, one can only cower and run away - hoping to deliver a message to the forthright merchant whose initial shipment was offered to the monster. Unfortunately, the Amazonian monster lost its shipment within the mazes of the Forest of Fulfillment.
My complaint is not with thee, kind merchant and seller. My feud lie with the horrid Amazonian monster, spawn of the two demons “Ordering” and “Shipping”. It is this evil offspring which has curtailed the successful completion of my order and your mission.
Kind merchant, please consider trading the lovely story above for a quantity of The Magic Blessed Blue Beans of Jamaica. The beans are considered magical by those possessing the ability to appreciate their scent, their beauty, and the wondrous elixir which yields from its beans.
[p.s. To readers: I'm getting my Jamaican Blue beans. YAY!]
Warm Regards,
Keith, Bearer of The Blessed Mug of Coffee Arrogance

- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2023On a recent Cruise through Central America, I collected coffee from all of our stops. Most of the locals will point you to their best coffee brands of which they are quite proud. When I got home I did a blind taste test of them all and while they were all very good the JBM was the smoothest and tastiest coffee. I have had JBM before and remember its smoothness and delicious taste.
When it came time to buy some more coffee I decided, that's it, I don't drink that much coffee anymore so I may as well drink the best and ordered some JBM off of Amazon. While this was good, it was not great and I was a little disappointed spending that much and getting what I would call an above-average cup of coffee. I will continue to seek out where I can find the best JBM. Don't get me wrong, this had some of the aroma of JBM but not a lot of the flavor and it was more bitter. So I will chalk this up to a learning expense and continue my search for the best-tasting JBM
Positives:
- Nice cup of coffee,
- Has some of the same smells as JBM
- Convenient to buy, don't have to travel to Jamaica
Negatives
- Not as good as the coffee that I purchased in Jamaica
- Just as expensive (about $40/lb)
- Not as smooth and lacking some flavor
Conclusions:
Again, I was a little disappointed when I brewed this as I was hoping it would be the same quality of coffee as what I purchased while in Jamaica. I will continue to seek out better quality. I have a hard time justifying $40/lb for something that is not outstanding.
In my opinion, this coffee is on par with other coffees from Central America.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the reviews suggest!
This is probably the best coffee I've ever tasted. After reading reviews here I ordered two pounds of the twice as expensive Blue Mountain variety before trying this order...
I really enjoyed the twice as expensive version and ran out. While waiting for more of that, I tried this since it had arrived anyway - I'm shocked to discover that this brand is significantly better than the other but both are excellent.
Both this and the much more expensive brand have zero astringency to them. What sets this brand apart and far above the other one for me is the aftertaste!
I drink coffee black and this stuff has a very strong and lasting almost burnt aroma that makes me want more.
Some of the other reviews complain that the beans appear to be more dry than other Blue Mountain brands from Jamaica and this brand does seem to have beans that are a fair bit more dry than the twice as expensive version. But for whatever reason this one just tastes better with a significantly longer and very appealing aftertaste.
All in all, this is my personal favorite and I will be ordering more. I think the dryness of the beans indicates superior roasting actually but I'm definitely no expert... Whatever it is, I'm very pleasantly surprised especially after reading the reviews.

4.0 out of 5 stars For this price, it has to be good.
This is the first time I've ever spent this much on coffee. I went to Jamaica in December 19 and had Blue Mountain coffee for a week straight.
Now to review this:
Strength - a bit on the weak side, but acceptable
Flavour - a little bitterness on the first taste with a clean finish
Extra remarks: 2 day delivery, vacuum sealed bag inside of a customary hemp sack
Buy again? Yes

5.0 out of 5 stars Now that's a good cup of coffee...
Got my coffee today, the beans where oily and fresh, the taste and flavor was really good and not bitter, this is great coffee..
I ground the beans and then added it to a small container and added the water, THEN let it steep for 4 minutes and then poured it threw the filter, some days I want it stronger so let it steep for 5 or 6 minutes, the longer you let it steep the stronger it gets...The Percolator doesn't make this coffee shine and don't use it.
For the price I use a strainer and coffee filter, now that make a good cup of coffee, try this and see how good this coffee is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Different the second time around
When we first ordered this coffee it tasted amazing. It brought us back to our time in Jamaica enjoying our coffee looking out on to the beach and ocean. So, we decided to treat ourselves and buy some more. Unfortunately, the second order tastes nothing like the first. So much so, that my wife doesn't want to drink any more of it. I find it's just ok but definitely disappointing. This second batch comes from Mavis Bank Estates. The first batch came from a different provider which I can't remember the name of but the packaging the beans came in was different.
Will likely try a different brand next time as I don't want to gamble again with what product I'm going to get.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is this really Blue Mountain? I doubt it...
I don't recommend getting those beans for your coffee. Compared to "real" Blue Mountain sourced from a local store with certificates of authenticity, they are no where near alike. The Blue Mountain should be smooth and woody, not harsh and burnt. After the first sip, I thought it might just be a bad roast, but at the end of the cup, I had strong doubt that it was just that: it's either a mix or a complete different variety.
