- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2021I use this for pepper grinding instead of the wood look pepper mills. This grinds pepper faster, with less effort, and controls the pepper grind size so much better than most other pepper mills.
I have used this for coffee before, but to grind enough for a full pot or french press, you will be grinding for a few minutes. It was very exhausting. I also had to stop several times and remove the bottom to see my progress as the window was small and unable to see into after several uses.
Works great as a pepper mill, not so great as a coffee grinder.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2023I have never had a grinder like this until this one so i have no baselineto compare to. It takes a long time to grind and it's a challenge to find the right setting. It also has a bit of play on the grinding side of the shaft. The instruction say to takeit apart and clean it before you use it. When i did i realized their are 2 fittings to keep the shaft in line and the one closest top the Griner side has more play than the handle side.. I really prefer that be opposite. I would rather the handle side have the play and the Griner side have none. With a lot of this amazon stuff you find that stuff like that has some mfg problems. I assume this is because they sell the better stuff in stores. It works though. I just wish the fittings were in better condition. They look like they could be better.

I was a fool!!! I realize now my main complaint about this grinder was just user error on my part. I had previously left a 4 star review with a complaint about the burr sitting crooked (I'll leave the old review below this) but I realized there is a small plastic piece inside of the grinder that wasn't seated correctly. After cleaning, I thought that the plastic bit settled in easily, but it turns out I need to purposely misalign the wider parts of the center rod and the openings on the plastic bit and then pull up on the end where you attach the handle (man, I hope that made some sense). Doing this pushes the wide part of the rod against the plastic bit and makes it sit into place, which prevents the rod from moving and keeps the grind even! I included pictures of this piece in case the same thing happens to you, you can know which part to check.
I still stand by the fact that the grinder is a bit difficult to clean inside, but with a smaller size bottle brush I can get in the crevices just fine. For $15, this grinder is 1000% worth the price.

I guess for $15 I can’t expect much, and it works pretty well. The grinder itself is pretty sleek, looks nice, it’s very compact so it’s easy for travel, and grinds up coffee beans for a cup or two very quickly; I can be done in just a minute or so.
My only issues with this coffee grinder is that the mechanism inside is crooked and it’s very difficult to clean. As far as being crooked, I don’t know if maybe I just got a defective one, but as you can see in the photo the grind-y part of the burr (totally don’t know the proper name for it, sorry coffee connoisseurs) is visible on one side and not at all on the other. It doesn’t affect use TOO much, but it does make extremely inconsistent grounds that I have to pass through the grinder twice. As for cleaning, it only disassembles to a point so part of the grinder is difficult to clean on the inside. Otherwise it’s pretty good, and again, for $15 I guess I can’t expect too much.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2021I've had this coffee grinder for about a month so I wanted to be able to give a good review after a month of use.
Very easy to use. Was going to go with a more expensive one, but then I thought "what the hell" I'm going to go ahead and go with this one and it works in home and in the field. Weather you're backpacking, camping, at home this coffee buddy is great for the price. I don't have any downfalls for this as of right now. Easy to use easy to clean. The only thing is if you're looking for an espresso grinder this probably won't work for super fine grounds. I prefer mine a bit more on the course side hence why this works for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2022The biggest issue is that coffee grounds/chunks of beans can get stuck between the metal cylinder and where the ground coffee comes out. This pushed the grinding mechanism up, which was not initially obvious. This leads to major issues with being able to actually grind the coffee (any stuck beans caused too much friction causing the grinders to spin freely and not actually get enough force to grind the beans), grind consistency (huge mix of sizes that come through), and beans not getting funneled into the grinding mechanism. After two weeks, it would take at least 20 mins to get enough ground coffee for a single cup (~1.5 tbs). I would have to try and do a large grind so that the grinders wouldnt spin freely, then slowly make the grind more fine as to not cause the grinder to spin freely in the cylinder. And this is after spending at least 5 mins waiting for the beans to get pulled into the grinding mechanism while I stood there like an idiot trying to shake the beans into the mechanism while either gently or quickly turning the crank. Nothing works and it made my morning coffee routine unbearable.
You could clean the cylinder and grinding mechanism relatively easy, but trying to get the half-ground beans out from between the grinding mechanism and cylinder was incredibly challenging, even with digging around in there with a pointed knife. Which is just not wort the time/energy because the area would become jammed before fully grinding on your next cup of coffee.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2024Great product for a great price. Using it every morning. Only have to figure out how fine of a grind you prefer/need. About the size of a water bottle so travels well, but doesn't come with a travel case if that matters to you.
