Great Coffee but Deceitfully Advertised
I actually bought these accidentaly; didn't realize I'd put it into my cart without checking reviews, and along it came with a book for my daughter.I really like this coffee - not really what I consider a dark roast but a dark medium or a blend of dark and medium roast. To me dark roasts are oily and super dark like Charbucks. I grind my beans and use an espresso machine (Breville Smart Grinder Pro & Gaggia Classic). This coffee makes a great crema and is very tasty with a pleasingly subtle aftertaste and no bitterness.I would buy it again were it honestly advertised. Others have noted and I concur, this coffee is probably not "100% Kauai" or even 100% Hawaiian as it does not conform to Hawaii's labeling standards. I don't know.What I do know is that this coffee is definitely not 100% Peaberry. (Peasberry? Most coffee beans are twins, causing them to flatten on one side. Peaberry beans are more rounded, as they have no twin to share space with.) The top two beans in my photo show a Peaberry on the left and a "normal" bean on the right. Below, you see a random sample spilled from the bag. Some are Peaberry and the others "normal"; some appear more roasted, and some appear less roasted. Perhaps a blend of already roasted beans.I'd also like to see the roast date stamped on it. My beans seemed reasonably fresh but am noit discerning enough to know without comparing two of differing age. There is a "Best By 052219" stamped beneath the UPC code. If their expected shelf-life is one year, then they are over three months old. I don't know.So, if you are a Peaberry afficianado (I might be becoming one) or one who's principles preclude false advertisement, then do not buy these beans but if you do, you will be pleased.

    I see a lot of coffee purists and/or coffee afficionado's are upset that it is only 10% Hawaiian coffee. I don't get bothered by that as long as the taste is good and this coffee is delicious! Today's pot was made perfectly and it could not taste any better. Where ever they are getting the other 90% of their coffee, it still better than most coffees I have tried. The flavor profile is definitely not nutty or chocolaty but has more of a floral note. It is a true medium roasted coffee bean, so a little goes a long way. One thing I can't answer is whether this company is consistent with their beans. I buy a medium whole bean coffee from my local supermarket and it is usually the best coffee for the money but as of late the beans have been really light roasted and I have to double the amount of coffee to get the right flavor. If this company is consistent with their roast, they will get my business.

Overall, I'm really pleased with this brand and will continue to buy.

    The coffee is not outright bad but I'm disappointed.The vanilla flavor is artificial and you can taste it.It's only 10% Hawaiian, buyer beware. I didn't realize that although it does say it on the image. What it doesn't say is where the other 90% comes from which I think is not proper to not represent what you're selling.There's nothing Hawaiian about the flavor. It's not smooth All I get from it is artificial vanilla taste.
